“Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams.
Could Game of Thronesreally be ending?
According to Maisie Williams, who plays Arya on the massively popular HBO series, it sure feels that way.
“At the end of the read through of this season, I sat there thinking: ‘God, they are setting up for the end,'” the 18-year-old actress tells The Red Bulletin in a new interview. “It was an amazing moment because for so long we’ve been working from season to season not knowing when it is going to end.”
“Every season we have been looking up to the next season, and now it feels like we are looking back down and are coming down to the end,” Maisie adds.
But even as the pieces of the battle for the seven kingdoms begin to fall into place, Maisie promises the upcoming season looks to be just as gut-wrenchingly rousing as ever.
“It’s still in no way predictable,” she explains. “But the feeling that this is slowly coming to an end is so so exciting, and terrifying at the same time. I can’t wait to see it.”
Preparing for the series to end is a tall order for fans, who have already seen the deaths (or… not?) of beloved characters, and now face even more uncertainty as the show’s plot has outpaced the publishing of George R.R. Martin’s books, on which it is based.
As the show gets ready to return on April 24, one major point of anticipation — WARNING: That big SPOILER from last season ahead — is whether Jon Snow is actually alive! While talking to ET last October, “Thrones” star Emilia Clarke commented on the rumors that Kit Harrington’s character might actually be returning to the show.
