Gina Rodriguez brought her dad, Genaro Rodriguez along to the Golden Globes, as she hopes for a second win for her starring role in the CW’s Jane the Virgin.
She also tweeted a cute photo of her and her father as they prepped for the awards show.
Last year Gina, 31, took home the top prize for best actress in a television comedy, marking the first time a CW actor snagged the statuette.
Gina told Emmy magazine in September that her dad’s near-death experience is what inspires her to keep pushing for her dreams.
“He started making me look in the passenger-side mirror every day and say, ‘Today’s going to be a great day. I can and I will,’ ” she explained. “At the time, I thought it was so lame. The worst! But he wouldn’t let me out of the car until I did it.”

That phrase is now her mantra, and Gina says she realized that, “there is no better way to live than the way that man lives.”
He’ll be there for her as her new Golden Globes date after Gina split from boyfriend Henri Esteve in September.

Leading up to the big night, Gina told PEOPLE that she was thrilled to be nominated again.
“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association changed my life. They found me in my little corner of all this television madness. I love that they are giving me the chance to give back and find a young filmmaker who has been in their own little nook,” Gina said.
“Plus, I love champagne.”
