Henry Cavill took to Instagram on Monday and teased what comic book fans are recognizing as a swatch of the Man of Steel’s iconic black suit, which hints at a familiar storyline for Supes in Justice League.
“#Superman,” the 33-year-old actor captioned enigmatically.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
The black super suit first appeared in The Death and Return of Superman comics, which ran from 1992-1993. In the controversial series, Superman dies after an epic battle with Doomsday – which should sound familiar to fans of Batman v Superman.
During Supe’s hiatus from protecting truth, justice and the American way, four wannabes don the red cape in his place. When the real Superman returns, he wears the black suit with a silver “S” emblem.
While Superman does not return to life at the end of Batman v Superman, the final moments of the film, in which dirt levitates from his grave – not to mention Cavill’s inclusion in the Justice League cast announcement – points to Superman’s eventual return in the next film.
Justice League hits theaters Nov. 17, 2017.
