Jake Gyllenhaal delivered a little St. Patrick’s Day cheer to a Boston rehabilitation hospital, springing a surprise visit on patients there.
The “Everest” star was touring Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital to research for his role in “Stronger,” and he took some time out to chat with patients. He even stopped for a selfie with Denna Laing, a forward for the National Women’s Hockey League’s Boston Pride, who sustained a spinal injury during a game in January.
The 24-year-old hockey pro shared a photo from Gyllenhaal’s visit on Twitter, writing, “I had an awesome St. Patrick’s Day, hope you did too! #HappyStPatricksDay .”
In “Stronger” Gyllenhaal will play Boston bombing survivor Jeff Bauman, who lost both his legs in the 2013 blast. Bauman was treated for a time at Spaulding.
