Jake Gyllenhaal Heads to Boston to Meet with Marathon Bombing Survivors

Jake Gyllenhaal braved the brutal New England cold on Friday to meet with survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Gyllenhaal is preparing for his upcoming role as Jeff Bauman, who lost both of his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013.

In addition to meeting with several of the survivors while in town, the actor headed to to the Liberty Hotel, where he grabbed a late lunch with a few friends at Scampo restaurant on Thursday afternoon.

Dressed casually, the Southpaw star ate a chicken Caesar salad, while the group shared some tomato, mozzarella and basil from Scampo’s mozzarella bar.

Bauman, whose book Stronger is the basis of the film, welcomed a baby girl named Nora with his wife back in 2014.
