Sneakers are an essential part of many working women’s commutes, but Kaley Cuoco has taken that concept to the next level. The Big Bang Theory sported her comfy kicks for her walk down the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards, then slipped into her heels once she got inside.

At last night’s People’s Choice Awards, the actress wore a sequin-laden navy blue Manning Cartell dress with a sheer plunging neckline and panel at the hem, pairing her look with an unusual pair of embellished Dior sneakers from the brand’s 2016 Cruise collection that retail for around $1100. While these high end sneakers have been a major trend amongst fashion editors and street style stars this past year, their rare sighting on red carpets have generally been met with a lukewarm reception at best.

However, Kaley’s time in her couture sneakers proved to be short-lived as she appears to have quickly changed into a pair of black suede Stuart Weitzman “Flashpoint” sandals once she was inside the actual ceremony. It’s the reverse of what we have seen on stars including Kristen Stewart, who suffers in heels for the photo opp, then laces up some Converse as soon as her red carpet walk is complete.
Could this be the year we finally see the athleisure trend make its way into the award show circuit? And more importantly what will we call it once it finally does? We’re casting our vote now for black tie sports luxe.
What do you think of Kaley’s Dior sneakers? Would you wear them on the red carpet? Or do you prefer the heels she changed into?
