Matt Lauer’s Golden Globes interviews mocked by Twitter users, Amy Schumer

Some Golden Globes red carpet viewers weren’t too impressed with “Today” show host Matt Lauer’s interviewing skills.

The anchor spoke to stars like Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Harrison Ford ahead of the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards, but plenty of viewers took to social media to criticize Lauer’s questions.

Whenever Matt Lauer asks a question, a thousand brain cells die. #GoldenGlobes

I only had to watch 5 seconds to realize that Matt Lauer would like to be anywhere else! At least act like you’re interested. #GoldenGlobes

Lauer teamed up with his “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie to chat with the stars, and Amy Schumer livened up the interviews by poking fun at Lauer.

He told Schumer her interview was on a 20-second delay and she quipped: “All Matt Lauer can do is 20 seconds.”

Schumer’s sister then had an uncomfortable exchange with Lauer. He told her she looked beautiful to which she replied, “Thank you, that’s all I care about.”

Fans took notice of Lauer’s awkward chat with the Schumer and her sister.

This Amy Schumer interview w Matt Lauer is painful. anything he does is painful. What a Trainwreck. #punintended#GoldenGlobes#RedCarpet

I’m trying to figure out when exactly Matt Lauer became an American travesty

On top of that, Guthrie and Lauer struggled with some technical glitches. During Will Smith’s interview, Lauer and Guthrie could be heard clearly but the microphone did not pick up Smith’s voice. The same thing happened during Ford’s interview.

Why can’t Matt Lauer hold the mic close enough so we can hear the celebs speak?! #GoldenGlobes

@nbc You can barely hear the @MLauer and @SavannahGuthrie interviews. #goldenglobes2016

Some viewers also commented on Lauer’s tendency to ask yes-or-no questions to the stars. When he chatted with Jennifer Lawrence, he asked her if she could sum up the past five years. Lawrence said she could not.

“Can you sum up the last 5 or 6 years?” -actual question Matt Lauer just asked JLaw
