“Liza loved being on stage again, and contrary to reports is feeling fine,” says her rep Scott Gorenstein. “She’s instructed her reps to set up appearances later in the year.”
Minnelli, 70, who now lives in Los Angeles, spent the week in Manhattan, seeing friends and visiting her old haunts on Madison Avenue. “This is the first time she’s sang in public since October 2015 when she was the inaugural performer (and took a memorable Uber ride) at Cape Fear Community College’s new Humanities & Fine Arts Center in Wilmington, North Carolina,” adds her rep.
During her Thursday night performance at Joe’s Pub she was joined by close friend Michael Feinstein and treated the audience to four songs including fan favorites: Cabaret, Maybe This Time and New York, New York.
Minnelli, a showbiz survivor who has long battled drug and alcohol addiction – In March of last year she did a stint in rehab for substance abuse – has slowed down recently, but still loves to entertain.
While in New York, “she saw close friends and had them over for a visit that turned into a pizza party,” says Gorenstein of Minnelli, who’s since returned home to Los Angeles.
