How’s this for a warm up?
A young Mets fan taught Washington Nationals’ pitcher Max Scherzer a thing or two about pitching before the Mets and Nationals squared off on Wednesday.
Joe La Rocca, a lifelong Mets fan, filmed his 11-year-old son Joe playing catch with the 2013 Cy Young award winner, commonly thought to be one of the best pitchers in baseball who pitched two no-hitters last season, MLB.com.
@Max_Scherzer thank you for having a catch with my son at tonight’s game. Lifetime memory. This lifelong mets fan is now a lifetime Max fan!

“This is a dream,” La Rocca can be heard saying in the video.
“Amazing,” his son adds. “I’m not giving this ball away!”
La Rocca took to Twitter to thank Scherzer.
“Thank you for having a catch with my son at tonight’s game,” he later tweeted at Scherzer. “Lifetime memory. This lifelong mets fan is now a lifetime Max fan!”
