You’re Going to Want to Wear Menswear Trousers Thanks to Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and More

For some, winter means exclusively wearing black skinny jeans and sweaters from November to March. But for boundary-pushing style stars, there’s no such thing as “off season” style. In fact, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Brie Larson just stepped out in a really refined (really comfortable!) piece — oversize menswear pants. And just like the styling geniuses they are, they’re making our standard skinnies look a little drab.

Leave it to Rihanna to introduce the trend in the coolest (least-wearable IRL) way possible — by teaming her suit-inspired pinstripe pair with two things we would not think to style with a suit — a tiny crop top and fur-accented sneakers.

Hadid on the other hand, shows an easier way try the trend, choosing a crop straight-leg version with a standard black Joe’s turtleneck, an edgy boot and a luxe Kenneth Cole shearling coat that sparks all the #coatenvy. It’s one of the those outfits you’re already pairing with your skinny jeans, making it a perfect beginner’s version.

Lastly, our favorite breakout red carpet star, Larson, is also nailing her party circuit wardrobe thanks to her outfit at the W Magazine Golden Globes event. She wore a Céline top tucked into a tailored, oversize pant (also by Céline) with a Mizuki choker and Gabriela Hearst bag. The whole ensemble looked so fresh, sophisticated and unexpected, it’s a perfect look to try to push your style savvy.
